ELWOOD [mdash] Dallas M. Walker, 93, of Elwood, passed away Nov. 23, 2024, with his family by his side.
He was born July 11, 1931, in Tipton County, the son of Paul and Eulla (Hollowell) Walker. Dallas graduated from Willkie High School in the class of 1949. He served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955. After service, Dallas was employed by Public Service Company of Indiana and retired as a shift supervisor.
On Dec. 24, 1955, Dallas married Florence Earp, and she passed away Oct. 14, 1961. He later married Flora E. Puterbaugh on Dec. 19, 1975. Dallas was a devoted member of Curtisville Christian Church where he served as deacon and co-chairman of the centennial celebration in 2011.
Dallas was a respected competitor in black powder, trap, and bench rest shooting. Over the years, he belonged to the N.R.A.; the Varmint Hunters International; and the Alexandria Gun and Conversation Club.
Dallas’ family includes his wife, Flora Walker of Elwood; sons, Tim (Lou Ann) Walker of Elwood and Jim (Terri) Walker of Tipton; four grandchildren, Lindsey (Travis) Sorensen, Megan (Michael) Planalp, Matthew (Ali) Walker, and Chelsea Brown; and five great-grandchildren, Tyler Sorensen, Caden Sorensen, Cohen Planalp, Alaina Planalp, Harper Walker, and a great-granddaughter expected in 2025.
Dallas was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Florence Walker; sisters, Phyllis (husband Dale) French and Jeannine Walker; and stepdaughter, Brenda Brown.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 30, 2024, at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Pastor Gary Cornwell officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park in Elwood and will include military honors.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the funeral.
