WARD, Virginia Feb 9, 1928 – Jul 12, 2024

Virginia L. Woodruff Ward, 96, of Melbourne Beach, Florida, passed away on July 12, 2024 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born February 9, 1928 in Daviess County, Indiana, to Roy Woodruff and Avis Gwendolyn Arnold Woodruff. Virginia was a 1946 graduate of Washington High School. She married Richard E. Ward July 24, 1949 in Washington.
Virginia worked for the Indiana Bell Telephone Company as a switchboard operator in Vincennes, Indiana. She was a loving wife and full-time homemaker while raising her daughter and son. Virginia was a charter member of the Wabash Cannonballs Chapter of the National Campers and Hikers Association. She enjoyed reading and camping in a custom made travel trailer while touring the United States with her family. Virginia moved to Melbourne Beach with her husband in 1986.
Virginia was preceded in death by her son, Roy E. Ward; husband, Richard E. Ward; and grandson, Billy J. Grundell. She is survived by her daughter, Gwendolyn (Garry) Grundell of Melbourne Beach; grandchild, Christina Wilson of Albany, GA; two great-grandchildren, Destiny Grundell of Bowling Green, KY and Colby Wilson of Albany, GA; and one great-great-grandchild, Brantley Grundell; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A private graveside service will be held at a later date at Oak Grove Cemetery.
